 Scholarships 2017-2018

Yawkey Scholars Program
Requires a strong academic record, or demonstration of significant improvement over time; plans to attend a competitive four-year college or university in South Carolina; engagement in a meaningful mentoring relationship; and having unmet financial need and would benefit from scholarship support so that they can graduate with a manageable loan burden

George Rogers Foundation of the Carolinas Scholarship - First in Family 
Applicants must be a: South Carolina Resident, First in Family student - defined as a student who will be the first person in their family to attend a 2 or 4 year college, and Graduating high school senior

Santee Electric Cooperative Scholarship
SEC will award 1-$500 scholarship to a student from CBHS whose parents have electric service through SEC.  If you are interested please reply your name and the electric company your parent has service with.  Scholarship selection will be based upon interested student’s need and high school academic performance as outlined by SEC. Deadline to reply:  February 15, 2018

SC Soil & Water Conservation Scholarship
This is a $1000 scholarship presented to a student who meets the following criteria:

  • SC resident
  • Available for fields of conservation/natural resources

Criteria for selection includes:  essay, GPA, financial need, community involvement & career goals.
Application deadline is March 15th.

Tidelands Mary Atmar Johnson Scholarship
Candidates for scholarship must:

  • Be pursuing a degree in the field of social work or nursing
  • Reside in Horry, Georgetown or Williamsburg counties
  • Be available for possible interview

Scholarship packet must be received by Tidelands Community Hospice no later than March 23, 2018Applications available in Guidance.

 

S.C. Education Association Retired Scholarship
The SCEA-R Scholarship is for $1,000.  Eligibility requirements are:

  • Must be a senior graduation from a public high school in SC
  • Plans to attend a SACS accredited college or technical college as a full time student
  • Must plan to pursue a career in education
  • Must have maintained a good high school academic record and maintin a 3.0 gpa
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities
  • Must need financial assistance

Deadline is March 15, 2018Applications available in Guidance.

Winyah Chapter of the DAR Scholarship Application

The Winyah Chapter of the DAR is proud to offer a college scholarship to exemplary high school students this year. Scholarship requirements:

  • Pursue an accredited 2 or 4 year program in prep for a degree or certification for career.
  • Attain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Perform a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer/community service
  • Provide SAT/ACT scores

Application packets are available in the guidance office. Deadline for the chapter to receive your application is March 15, 2018.

Howard High Alumni Association Scholarship
The Howard High School Alumni Association announces its annual scholarship award for graduating high school seniors.  Applicant must be:

  • A descendant of a Howard High Alumni
  • Demonstrate in writing, financial need, educational goals, and extracurricular school/community services as well as any other information he/she feels relevant to be considered as a candidate for this scholarship
  • Must have a C or higher GPA 

Applications available in Guidance. Deadline to apply is April 15, 2018.
